Being here in Delray Beach Florida and pondering one of my favorite sayings. “What’s it all about”– I leave the “Alfie” part out but it’s in my head when I say or write that statement. Then of course there is Dion Warwick singing in the background of my mind, And of course, Michael Caine and Jude Law in my memory. Wow—that all happens in an instant. Well I think, know and feel that I just digressed but I know there is a point to this post.
I want to write because I am confused about something that I see so often here in Florida. I am told that it is also quite prevalent in California but I am not on the west coast so I will talk about the southeast. Living in NY (not Manhattan) doesn’t afford me the opportunity to see and experience what I see as a phenomenon here in Florida. There are women and men who have completely changed their faces to look like Joan Rivers after her “hundredth” face life. Then there are women who have enlarged their breasts way beyond anything that could naturally grow without adding at least a hundred pounds to their bodies.
I am trying to stay in a non-judgemental place. So please if I appear judgemental, this is not what I am trying to share. What I am trying to do is FIGURE THIS OUT. I would love to start an open forum and have the women and men share their process with me and others who are interested in this. I would love to hear your motivation behind having surgery or botox or whatever else you have done. I just can’t understand how anyone can change and, in my belief and thoughts, distort themselves from what they originally looked like?
I think of Meg Ryan after her face change. It’s hard for me to see her in films now. Is it me? I ask that honestly and out of curiosity. Am I not willing to see that this is something that is being done to help the person feel better about themselves? I am truly curious about this.
Please help me to understand the thinking and mostly the feeling behind the decision to do this to yourself.
