One of my favorite writing workshops and practices is called Proprioceptive Writing. I have participated in these workshops with Linda Metcalf and Tobin Simon. If you are interested their book is Writing the Mind Alive.

In the book they write -“A Write (which is their format for writing) is a literal record of your  reflections and reactions, written as they occur to you, moment by moment, during a particular half hour, not a deliberated essay. So write what you are thinking. Write what you’re feeling. Write what interests or concerns you. Write your explorations into meanings. Examine your associations to your thoughts and write them. Whatever you think: Write! “(Page 45 from their book)

A friend wrote to me yesterday after she read my blog and said-“I know these writings offer the freedom for others to connect to their feelings and live expansively”.  This feedback felt so wonderful! And also it validates something that I am already feeling. I know that I am ready to write. Not because I am being accepted by others (which is a great feeling ) but because I have accepted “me” in my writing.

Years ago I attended LaGuardia community college and was enrolled in an advanced writing class. The teacher was thrilled with my writing and he wanted me to start publishing some of my work. My husband, at that time (yes-more than one 🙂 was a jealous man (as was my father–HMM think there was a pattern there “follow what you’re modeled” – following my mothers footsteps). Anyway, he started criticizing my writing and the teacher.  A very long and dramatic story (and believe me I love my long and colorful stories but I am choosing not to digress right now). So the gist of it is I dropped out of the writing class. And went back to hiding my writing by journaling. I love journaling and the only  reason I say “hiding” is because ” I am not hitting a “Publish” button after I finish what I write.

So here I am writing and making a commitment to myself to continue expanding and expressing myself for myself. I hope you enjoy these explorations as much as I do.

I have been offering Wellness Coaching services for over 20 years. I am always honored and thrilled to work with people who are willing and desirous of connecting to their deeper selves.  My work caters to those that have already done transformational work and are ready to go to another level of self-discovery.
